No theme this week, just a random assortment of fun stuff. As usual,
if anyone has any suggestions for themes, or links, or whatever, e-mail
me or better yet, hit the message
board.
Song of the Week: Golden Earring isn't a terribly
well remembered band, which is unfortunate, in my opinion. Their hit "Radar
Love" is one of the best driving songs I've ever heard. If you
aren't familiar with it, go download it now.
Link of the Week: Do you like William Shatner? Do
you hate William Shatner? Or perhaps would you like to mock Shatner? Hecklers.com
has a hard to describe but very amusing toy called the William
Shatner Acting Simulator. I should point out that I bear no responsibility
for anything naughty you make Shatner say. I should also say that some
of the other content on Hecklers.com might be in somewhat poor taste,
so be warned.
Quote of the Week: "You sold me queer giraffes."
— Proximo from Gladiator. A great quote from a great movie
that I'd feature as the DVD of the week if I hadn't featured it already.
DVD of the Week: One of the first DVDs I bought
after getting my DVD player last year was Three Kings. It's
a rather odd little movie that is very hard to categorize. It takes place
during a war, but it's not really a war movie. It has some very funny
moments, but it's not really a comedy. And while there are action sequences,
there's not enough of them to put this in the action column. What does
this movie have? It has great performances from the George Clooney, Mark
Wahlberg, Spike Jonze, and Ice Cube, as well as a number of supporting
characters. It has a smart and complex plot that doesn't insult the viewer's
intelligence. The DVD has a bunch of cool extras, including two commentaries
and three behind the scenes featurettes. Oh, I should also note that it
has enough violence and profanity that you won't want to let your kids
watch it. |
