Song of the Week: Let's go for something rather obscure
this week. Not a lot of people that I know listen to Dutch prog rock bands.
Heck, I'm betting you can't name a single Dutch progressive rock band.
Well, now you can. The band is Focus. Their only top-ten
hit in North America is a rather strange anthem called "Hocus
Pocus." The driving guitars are catchy, but it is the only
rock song I've ever heard that features yodeling. That's right, yodeling.
Go download it now if you don't believe me.
Link of the Week: Believe it or not, some times I have
a hard time coming up with stuff to put on this page. I know, you're thinking
that couldn't be possible. Well, it is. I'm not a walking pail of inspiration,
you know. But it looks like I have my quotes department coved for a while
with QuoteGeek.com. All manner
of quotes, from television to literature. Defintely worth a look if you
feel like quoting someone.
Quote of the Week: "There's a fine line between
fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot." —
Steven Wright. No analysis needed here, I just like the quote.
DVD of the Week: To concide with my G/B/U rating of
DVD Bonus Features, the DVD of the week is
the Criterion Edition of Brazil. Why do I feature
this movie? I'll tell you. Not only is the movie one of my favourites
(especially at the end of a particularly long and nasty day at work —
you have to see the movie to understand), it's a three disc set. Disc
one is a 142 minute final directors cut with a commentary, disc two has
a pile of interviews with everyone from the screenwriters to the costume
designer, trailers, and a 60 minute exclusive document, and disc three
contains a 94 minute studio cut with a highly controversial happy ending.
And yes, I pretty much plagarized that from my other article. Deal with
it.
