The Worst Christmas Ornament Ever

by Marko Peric

At this time of year, Christmas ornaments of all shapes, sizes, and levels of tackiness are everywhere. From silver bells to figurines of fictional characters, you can pretty well find any sort of decoration you could imagine. And perhaps some that you could never imagine, nor want to. While at the hospital recently my wife and I found this in the waiting area in the obstetrical/nursing unit. That's right, the place where new babies and their mothers can be found. And also, apparently, an appropriate place to decorate with a disembodied head of Father Christmas.

Yes, Virgina, there is a decapitated Santa Claus

As much as I want to say that I photoshopped this from a complete Santa, I didn't. This was hanging in the window in the nursery waiting room at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Originally it was facing the outdoors, I turned it around to take the picture. Then I made sure to turn it back. As much as I'm not planning on lying to my son about Santa Claus, I don't think any little kid needs to see Saint Nick's severed head on display.
